CHINESE OPERA IN HONG KONG
Ng Ho (4 year old) from Cha Duk Chang has his general robe getting fixed before a performance. Even for adults assistants are usually needed to fix costumes, heavy headgear or armours.
Cha Duk Chang (查篤撐) is a Children's Cantonese Opera Association from Hong Kong that aim is to use the traditional art of Chinese Opera as a method of education and to maintain interest in traditional culture among Hong Kong's children.
At the end of 2013, the children of Cha Duk Chang performed in Foshan, in the Guangdong province of China, a new original Opera written by Stella Ma, playwright and director of the association, called "Rehearsing for a Great Fun Show". Unlike traditional Cantonese operas, this opera is designed for children. Its music and lyrics are easy to sing and to memorize.
